New!  Please check out five (5) new online courses available in the Learning Center.  These courses are available in the Training Catalog and were specifically designed by NIC for correctional leaders/managers.

  • Evaluating the Needs of Internal Programs and Processes explores data collection and decision making processes to determine whether staff, processes or programs are adding value to their organization.
  • Instructional Theory Into Practice (ITIP): No Fail Lesson Plan Construction explores a blended evidence-based instructional design model which supports adult learning theory, fosters learner-centered instruction and accommodates all learning styles.

  • Integrating Generational Differences in Managing Today's Correctional Workforce explores information, insight, strategies and tools to better understand, motivate and communicate with the many generational differences represented in today's correctional workforce.

  • Power to Lead provides insight into the use and abuse of power by leadership within organizations.

  • Foundations of Futuring  explores the critical importance of organizations proactively adopting "forward thinking" processes to be poised to meet future demands.

New!  NIC is pleased to announce that applications for its classroom-based training programs are now accepted online via the NIC Learning Center!  Browse the training catalog for available programs.

  • If you find a program, first review the course description and eligibility requirements to determine whether you are eligible. Before you can apply for classroom (in-person) training, you will have to register in the Learning Center. See the "New Users Register" page. Completing the user profile replaces the paper applications NIC previously required.

  • After registering, return to the catalog page and click on the program title. A page will appear with an Enroll button on it. Click the enroll button and you will be considered for the program. You will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your application.

  • NOTE that NIC has waived the previous requirement of a CEO endorsement for classroom training applications; however, applicants are asked to offer an assurance that their supervisor is aware of, and supports, their application.
